CBRF Caregiver- Standard Precautions

Course Description
Protect residents, staff, and visitors with consistent infection-prevention practices. This course trains CBRF caregivers to break the chain of infection using standard precautions every time—hand hygiene, PPE, safe handling of blood/body fluids, and environmental cleaning aligned to policy. Key Competencies • Chain of infection: source, route, host—and how to interrupt it. • Hand hygiene: soap/water vs. sanitizer; the 5 moments; glove use. • PPE selection and sequence: gloves, masks/respirators, eye/face protection, gowns. • Respiratory etiquette and source control. • Bloodborne pathogens basics; sharps safety and no-recap rules. • Cleaning vs. disinfection vs. sterilization; contact times; high-touch surfaces. • Safe handling of body fluids, spills, and regulated medical waste. • Laundry and linens; soiled item transport and storage. • Food, hydration, and ice safety basics in residential care. • Exposure response: first aid, reporting, and follow-up. CBRF-Specific Adaptations • Supporting residents with mobility, visual, hearing, or cognitive needs while maintaining dignity. • Toileting, bathing, wound care assists, and med pass hygiene. • Oxygen equipment care and humidification hygiene. • Cohorting, room setup, and visitor guidance during heightened risk. Practical Skills & Scenarios • Return-demo: proper handwashing and sanitizer technique. • Donning/doffing PPE without self-contamination. • Spill kits: blood/body fluid cleanup step-by-step. • Realistic scenarios: cough/fever resident, wound drainage, needlestick, vomiting/diarrhea events. Documentation & Compliance • Daily cleaning logs, disinfectant lot/expiry tracking, and contact-time checks. • Exposure and incident reporting; post-event debriefs. • Supply par levels and storage (PPE, disinfectants, spill kits). • Communication during outbreaks and shift-to-shift handoffs. Training Format • In-person or blended (online theory + instructor-led skills). • Small classes, skills check-offs, brief knowledge checks. • Take-home checklists and room-by-room audit tools. Cancellation Policy
Refund Policy: You will receive a 100% refund if you cancel at least three business days before the start date, or 75% if they cancel at least two business days prior. No refunds are issued the day of training or for no-shows. One seat-available transfer is permitted for $15 if requested at least 24 hours before the next start or within two business days after a no-show; this fee may be waived once for documented emergencies.
